After leaving Fort Monroe the rest of the day was definitely a trip down memory lane.
These are a few of the places I went to
- The roller skating rink that we spent so many weekends at.
- King Street which leads to one of the gates to Langley AFB
- Air Park that had the coolest metal space ship slide
- Drove straight down Mercury Blvd trying to see if there any familiar stores and restaurants
- Seeing New Market North Mall empty made me sad
- Drove by Bethel High School
It was such a great time being able to stop at some of these places and just allow the memories good/bad/indifferent to cover over me. It was so good. This day reminded me that not only does Hampton hold a negative hold
- My dad was mentally and verbally unhealthy
- I was molested here
- My family fell apart here
- The first time I felt alone
But there are so many great memories
- My mom was my girl scout leader
- My dad was my soccer coach
- My dad built my love boat
- met my first best friend
- And many more
So this day made me realize it is so easy to remember the negative but I need to focus on the good things Hampton brought into my life because there are many good.
To GOD Be The GLORY. Take Care. Much Love
