For the past 10 years, I have been doing 3 lists. Traumas/Dramas/Llamas In Pajamas. Basically listing things on these lists based on the definition under each description. I thought it would be powerful to post the first list I did and compare it to the list 10 years later. Today I will post the 2009 list. Next week I will post the 2019 list.
Drama-An episode that is turbulent or highly emotional.
- My parents getting divorced.
- My Sister fighting for custody of Debbie
- My divorce from BG
- My divorce from Dennis
- My time away from BG while he was in Korea
- Being in a homeless shelter after Disneyland
- Being kicked out of Grandma’s house
- Healing from my past
- Being a single mom, trying to balance it all
- Going to school at the age of 38
- My sister becoming my guardian
- A car accident when I was 17
- 3 dogs killed by cars
- Trying to kill myself at 17
- Catching my dad with another woman
- Having eating disorders
- Cheating on BG
- My Godfather dying
- Not having strong friendships through the hard times
- Easing my pain with alcohol
- Prom with my date
- Not being considered family at Dja’s funeral
- Having my parents still put the other down in front of me
- My extended family turning their backs on me
- Holidays with my family. Not the warm fuzzies.
- Getting out of the army after 14 years
- My cousin dying
