Growing up my mom would take me and my sister to church. I knew of GOD. I was familiar with some of the stories in the Bible. It was not until I was about 29 years old that I was invited to study the bible and began to understand that there is more to really understanding GOD and the purpose for my life than just going to church and reciting a few scriptures. After going through some challenges, some soul searching I was baptized December 31, 2000. It has not been an easy walk in Christ. But to look back and to see all the changes that have been made in my life I know it is only possible because of GOD.
Some people have the vision that once you become a Christian everything will be okay and you will be given this perfect life. Life as a Christian is awesome. The thing is the perspective changes. It is not about what I can get but instead what can I do for others and how I need to change.
After getting baptized I still had the mindset that the hard part was over. I studied the bible, made the decision to get baptized and now I can sit back and reap the reward. BOY was I wrong.
I had a prayer that I would meet a GODLY man and get married. But in my mind, I had a backup plan. I had hoped Dennis would study the bible and get baptized and we could just get married. When he decided he did not want to get baptized I still wanted to marry Dennis.
That is what I did. I gave up on GOD and I walked away from him. After 1 ½ years, the marriage fell apart. I had to do some soul searching. When we lost our apartment and had to go to a homeless shelter. GOD was all I had left. I leaned on him and began to seek him again. I started going back to church, studying to restore my faith and GOD,
One month after returning to GOD the door opened for me to begin therapy for my traumas and to begin living a healthy better life.
I have been restored in faith for 10 years. The path has not been easy but it has been refreshing. I look forward to sharing my spiritual journey with you. To GOD Be the Glory
