Best Oscar speech paying tribute to a single mom. Luckily I had DVR’d this Oscar show. I paused and rewound this speech to make sure that I got it verbatim.
“In 1971 in Ojar City, Louisana, There was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child, She was a high school drop out. And a single mom. But somehow she managed to make a better life for her self and her children. She encouraged her kids to be creative, to work hard and to do something special. That girl is my mother and she is here tonight. And I just want to say I love you mom and thank you for teaching me to dream”-Jared Leto
This speech was so powerful at the time and still today. To know that a child raised by a single mom can be successful gave me hope about my own girls.
I am continually proud of the amazing women that they are becoming.
