I have mentioned in a previous post that I heard a powerful quote “Our life is made up of one day moments, and we just need to make the effort to make those moments come true”
I truly believe that quote. And I am doing my best to turn my one days into I did that yesterday. One of the one days on my list was to one day get a tattoo. But with putting that on the list it was not just to get a superficial tattoo. BUt something that defines who I am.
I have always said I don’t want to be 80 years old in a nursing home with a flaming skull on my hip. I did not want to have any regrets. So I have always looked at tattoos to see if anything grabbed me.
About 6 months ago I saw a tattoo that inspired and grabbed me. It was not the exact tattoo but it was a great start. It was a great concept. They say if you want a tattoo to hold onto it for 6 months and if it still grabs you then you should go forward with it. Here is the concept tattoo
And that is what I did. I left the picture on my phone and would occasionally look at it just to see if it would continue to grab me. Every time it still inspired me. So in February, I started looking for a tattoo artist that was great at detailing. I found the artist and booked the appointment.
Last Saturday was the day. I was nervous but super excited. I explained to him the changes in the concept. He drew it up and we were ready to get the tattoo done.
That pain is real. I got it on my inner bicep so that it would be closest to my heart. But that pain was worth it.

Here is the meaning of each part of the tattoo:
1. The teal ribbon is for sexual trauma awareness
2. The heart symbolizes my favorite shape.
3. The butterfly symbolizes that I am finally free of the time I went from a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly in my healing
4. The teal and purple symbolize domestic violence and sexual trauma awareness colors
5. The cross symbolizes GOD being in the center of my life.
So I am so excited that one of my one days finally came true.
