My Daddy Knows Everything

As far back as I can remember when I would ask my dad something i.e. “Why is the grass green” He would always respond with “What do you say?” and then I would respond with “My daddy knows everything” and then he would kiss his arm. It sounds cheesy I am sure. But for me, it was a special moment with my dad. It was in those moments that I felt some type of love from my dad. My description of that interaction is my dad wanted me to know that I could come to him about knowledge. And the kissing the arm was like an extension of kissing him on the head.
When I was getting ready to graduate from high school, I knew my dad was flying in from Saudi Arabia for my graduation so I wanted to do something to honor my dad’s influence of knowledge in my life. I decided after getting my diploma I would kiss my arm. My sister was in on this surprise. So as I was leaving the stage my sister took pictures of my dad’s reaction. She said he was confused at first what I was doing. But he soon realized what I was doing and he was touched. That tradition of kissing the arm at graduation has continued. Both Bethanie & Lilie did it when they graduated from High School. It’s like my dad expects it now. lol
As my dad grows older his knowledge is decreasing. Especially with technology. My dad has realized this and now he comes to me to ask me questions about stuff. So now he is the one that says “Dink knows everything’ It is heartwarming to see the role reversal. But in my heart “My daddy does knows everything” Take Care Much Love.
