REPOST:Impact Letter To Family Friend

DISCLAIMER-This is a hypothetical letter I could imagine myself reading in a court of law if the violator was prosecuted, found guilty and it is now their sentencing hearing. And I am given an opportunity to read a Victim Impact Letter.
This would be the letter I would write to the family friend who molested me when I was 10:
I am having a hard time addressing you as Mr. Jones(hypothetical name) To me I would only address someone with Mr and their last name as an act of respect.
But I lost all respect for you the night you stumbled into my room and molested me.
I will not accept any stupid excuse you have. You should have taken responsibility for your actions a long time ago.

I am at peace to know that the judicial system has found you guilty of sexual molestation. You took my innocence so long ago. I hope that the judge will sentence you to at least the amount of time that I have been a prisoner of my own mind and body.

13,550 days. That is how long I have suffered and dealt with this trauma. 37 years, 1 month, 6 days. I have to know that GOD & the Judge is in control of this court hearing and justice will be served.

No matter how long you are sentenced it will not erase what happened to me so many years ago. I hope that the time you will serve will be a time for you to finally take responsibility for your action.

I had to forgive you many years ago. It was not to set you free for accountability. But it was to set me free from myself and holding onto the unneeded weight.

Take the time you are being sentenced to reflect on what you did and take responsibility.

Justice is finally being served. Thank you Judge and Thank you, GOD
