I really try hard to be more outward focused for my birthday instead of inward focused. So I challenged myself to do as many Random Acts of Kindness leading up to my birthday. Over time I will share different random acts of kindness that I did over my birthday weekend this year. First one is The Peach Truck
Random Acts of Kindness #1 The Peach Truck-If anyone knows about the peach truck you know it is a big deal. This truck travels from Georgia with peaches picked that week. They make many stops in the area. I got there 30 minutes before it opened and there was already a long line.
So I was chit-chatting with the man behind me (who you could tell was a HUGE OSU fan). He was stating he was buying 3-25lb boxes of peaches for him & his wife, and 2 daughters. Well the man taking the payment announces they are running low so only 1 box per person. You can get back in line if they still have some. OSU fan said he was getting back in line so I asked him if he wanted me to get back in line with him. He said that would be great.
So I bought my box, put it in my car, saw where he was coming from and made sure I got back in line with him. He looks up at me and this was the conversation:
OSU Fan “Are you back in line to get a box for me?”
Me “Yes, I told you I would”
OSU Fan “I can’t believe you are willing to do this”
Me “It took us 20 minutes to get through the first time. I have 20 minutes to spare to help someone”
I then go on to explain to him that this is not a check mark or anything but for my birthday I like to challenge myself to do things for others so I figured this was a way to give to him by helping him get 3 boxes.
We get the 2 boxes I help him take it to his car. He says thank you and gives me a hug. That was enough for me to know I encouraged a stranger with no expectation in return.
