We have all probably seen or know of water baptism. It can be described as a new life. Dying to your old self and raising out of the water as a new person.
There is really nothing brutal or tragic about being baptized in the water. It is a gentle thing that has a lot of power.
I have always heard people talk about going through a hard time in their life. Some people will even give an analogy that “it was like baptism by fire”
Those words can give a visual of what that would entail. Just like a water baptism you would die to your old self. And you would be a new person.
But in this analogy there would be a physical sacrifice. You would definitely lose skin, probably flesh and muscle. But different than a water baptism you would have physical scars to heal from.
So when making a comparison about going through a hard time and baptism by fire you will have healing and growing.
I am writing about this because for me going through PE Therapy was like baptism by fire. It was hard, It hurt and it even caused pain. But I had to shed the old self to be able to heal and to grow more as my new self.
I definitely feel like a completely different person than I was when I walked into therapy over 4 months ago. It was not an easy process but it was definitely worth it.
I am renew and I am healing.
