In PE Therapy I have learned that a coping mechanism for MST Survivors is Avoidance. As the topic of avoidance has come up over and over again I have realized that avoidance is not only part of my MST coping but also just how I survivor life. In avoidance, we simply find ways of avoiding having to face uncomfortable situations, things or activities. Avoidance may include removing oneself physically from a situation. It may also involve finding ways not to discuss or even think about the topic in question. Avoidance is a simple way of coping by not having to cope. When feelings of discomfort appear, we find ways of not experiencing them. For guess because I learned to do this with MST and “it worked” then I do it in all of my life. It’s funny now that I am aware of avoidance I can see myself actually starting to avoid something. So now that I am aware of avoidance I can process “why”. I really appreciate this awareness of avoidance so that I can heal and start to face more things head on To GOD Be The GLORY. Take Care. Much Love |
