A few weeks ago the new leader of the church asked us to turn to Acts 29. He continued talking as everyone was flipping through their bibles. I look on my Bible app and do not see Acts 29. I begin to wonder if he meant another chapter. Finally, he asked, “Is everyone to Acts 29?” Finally, people started saying “There is not an Acts 29” That is when Tre’ said “You’re right there is not an Acts 29. This is the chapter that we need to write with our lives”
That blew me away that he made himself so vulnerable to get a point across to us. So powerful.
Never look back, that’s not the way we are going. We get into a funk of comparing our past to our present day or even to our future. We need to stay focus on the journey that is in front of us.
I have to give my relationship with God everything I have. I can’t be mediocre with him. I should not
reach a point of satisfaction. I need to always strive for me, to strive for better.
When we share our story we should not only share the story before we become a Christian. Our story continues and we need to share that too.
How many times does GOD ask me if I love him before I show him? I should give him my all. What are we doing today to show God that we love him? We become comfortable. “Life is Good” We should not just float down the river. We need to actively paddle and guide our boat through the obstacles of life.
Hebrews 11:32-40 NIV “And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies. Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated— the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground. These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.”
Acts 2:42-47 NIV “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”
