A few months ago I was doing some research online about how to become a motivational speaker. I came upon this website of a popular speaker. One of his videos was titled “300” It peaked my interest to click on the link to see what it was about.
In the video, he was talking about to be a successful speaker you must publicly speak at a minimum of 300 times before you can truly begin to call yourself a public motivational speaker. I totally understand where he is coming from. It is like anything you have a passion for, to get good at it you must do it over and over again to tweak it.
Olympic Athletes, actors, or even singers they don’t just wake up one morning and decide to pursue their passion. They usually have been going after that goal for at least 10 years.
I know in country music they talk about it taking at least 10 years to get a break into the business. There are so many potential singers that will spend years singing in smoky bars hoping to get discovered.
This is kinda the perspective I have had about becoming a successful speaker. It will probably take me about 7-10 years to get to that point. Every speech I volunteer to do for Victim Impact, Take Back The Night, or even weekly Devotionals I do at work count toward that goal of 300 speeches.
From my guesstamation calculations, I have done approximately 218 speeches in about 5 years. That is more than halfway to that goal. And honestly, I have no intention of just STOPPING at 300. I will continue to do speeches until I can successfully make a living to support myself by publicly speaking. I am excited to see what GOD’s plan is for my life
